Where could a St George’s education take you? For our Class of 2026, the answer spans universities across the UK and beyond, with courses reflecting a remarkable breadth of interests, talents and ambitions.

Following an outstanding set of A Level results this summer, our newest Old Georgians have begun their next chapters. From Medicine to History, Chemical Engineering to Law, and Psychology to Physics, we are very proud of everything they have achieved and excited to see what comes next.

Celebrating their achievements

The Class of 2026 achieved 23% of all grades at A*, 54% at A*–A, 82% at A*–B and 94% at A*–C, alongside a 100% pass rate.

The College also celebrated exceptionally strong Value Added performance, with its three-year average placing St George’s in the top 1% of schools nationally. Alongside the excellent grades, this recognises the progress students make during their time at the College.

Results Day brought our Upper Sixth together for the traditional sparkling brunch: an opportunity to celebrate their hard work, share memories and look ahead to life beyond St George’s.

A breadth of destinations

The University of Bath is this year’s most popular destination, welcoming 13 leavers, followed by the University of Manchester with 12 and Durham University with 11. Edinburgh, Exeter, Leeds, Liverpool, Loughborough, Nottingham and Warwick are also among the universities welcoming Georgians this autumn.

Three members of the Class of 2026 secured places at Oxford and Cambridge. Saskia Cake is studying Engineering and George Balmer Land Economy at Cambridge, while Charlotte Jory is studying Italian and Spanish at Oxford.

Our future doctors include Amy van Rensburg and Freddie Rees, who secured places to study Medicine at UCL, and Aditi Deshpande at Kent and Medway Medical School. There was also cause to celebrate 2025 leaver Arthur Walmsley’s place to study Medicine at Newcastle.

Elsewhere, Mel Semiv is studying Economics at Bath, Freddie Elliott History and Politics at Edinburgh, Eve Sugrue Spanish and Politics at Edinburgh, and Fraser Crowson Music at Royal Holloway.

Across the year group, courses range from Japanese and Linguistics to Motorsport Technology, Architecture, Marine Biology and Pharmacology. Many offer opportunities for placements, industry experience or study abroad, while French Studies with Business at the University of London Institute in Paris takes one Georgian’s next chapter overseas.

Head of Sixth Form Mr Jon Carr said:

“What is particularly pleasing this year is the breadth of destinations and courses our students are pursuing. From Engineering and Medicine to Music, Japanese and Motorsport Technology, as well as highly competitive degree apprenticeships, these choices reflect their individual talents and ambitions. We’re incredibly proud of everything this cohort has achieved and excited to see them take these next steps.”

Supporting each student’s journey

Behind each destination is an individual journey. Our Careers Programme begins in First Year and develops as students move through the College, helping them explore their interests, recognise their strengths and make informed choices about their futures.

Our work with Tinker Tailor supports this journey through careers guidance and workshops tailored to each stage of school life. Younger students develop their awareness of the world of work and explore the skills they are gaining through their subjects. As they progress, the focus turns to self-awareness, subject choices, work experience and preparing a CV.

In Sixth Form, students receive support with researching university courses, preparing personal statements and exploring alternatives, including degree apprenticeships. Workshops also help them develop interview skills, build professional networks and prepare for opportunities beyond school.

For most Georgians, university is the next step, whether in the UK or overseas. Whatever their ambitions, our aim is to help each student find the path that is right for them and approach it with confidence.

Congratulations to every member of the Class of 2026. To our newest Old Georgians: we hope you are settling in well, and look forward to welcoming you back to the College in January for your Graduation Night and first reunion!
