It was an eventful half term for our Bursar Greg Cole and College parent Matt Whaley, who used the break to successfully complete the Original Mountain Marathon, an iconic and challenging two-day adventure race set in the stunning Welsh mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). This remarkable achievement not only tested their physical and mental strength but also demonstrated their unwavering support of St. Joseph's African Aid (SJAA) and its life-changing initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, and Gabon.

St. Joseph's African Aid, a charity with a mission to transform lives in African communities, focuses on providing essential funding for projects that benefit Josephite schools and programmes. SJAA's projects include providing clean water sources, improving educational facilities, and ensuring access to quality textbooks for students. Greg and Matt’s completion of The Original Mountain Marathon is part of an ongoing effort to raise much-needed funds for these initiatives.

The core goal of this remarkable event was to raise at least £500. Funds like this have a significant impact, and could enable SJAA to do things like:

Half-fund a village water project, ensuring that communities have access to clean and safe drinking water, improving the overall health and well-being of the local population.

Provide 10 classroom blackboards, enhancing the learning environment for countless students and supporting the expansion of educational opportunities.

Supply a year group of textbooks, equipping students with the tools they need to pursue their education and improve their future prospects.

Greg and Matt’s journey through the Original Mountain Marathon was a gruelling test of their stamina, determination, and teamwork. Their fundraising efforts show just how committed they are to making a positive impact on the lives of others, raising well over their original target of £500 with an incredible total of £1,400.
