U14 rugby squads take part in once-in-a-lifetime training experience

Wednesday 21 November 2018 will be remembered as a very special day for the U14 boys' rugby squads at St George's College, as they took part in a truly memorable training session on the school rugby pitches.

As the boys made there way over to the pitches, they were greeted by not one, not two, but THREE ex-British and Irish Lions and Welsh legends of the game. Amassing over 300 international caps between them, St George's and the boys were privileged to welcome Alun Wyn Jones, Adam Jones and Jamie Roberts and listen in as they shared their experiences and knowledge of the game.

The teams were put through their paces in a number of drills focusing on skills in attack and how to beat opponents in a two on one situation. The forwards were then taken away to focus on building phases whilst offering three options at every breakdown, meanwhile the backs worked on some moves encouraging width and depth. Everyone then came together at the end to make it game realistic.

The boys had a brilliant time and demonstrated good skills and an eagerness to learn throughout the session. The Welsh internationals were also kind enough to run a Q&A session, take pictures and provide pupils with signed memorabilia at the end. It truly was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a moment the U14s will never forget.

We must also thank Mr Cole as he kindly donated this prize to the U14 rugby team.
