U11 girls enjoy huge success at Rounders National Finals

The Under 11 girls enjoyed a very successful day at the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) Rounders National Finals at Windlesham House School on Thursday 20 June.

Due to recent bad weather, the girls had only been able to play one fixture prior to the event, so all other preparation was internal, with the Under 11 St George's boys showcasing their Georgian spirit by helping the girls practice.

As the tournament progressed, the girls grew in confidence and took measured and appropriate risks both in the field and batting.

At times the girls were exceptional, especially in their fielding, helping them limit the opposition scores by anticipating their every move.

After winning all but one of their group games, the girls went through to the knock-out stages high in confidence and continued their brilliant fielding record. Comfortable wins in the quarter and semi finals against The Elms and Hoebridge, led to a final match up against Bedford School.

In a tense final, Bedford came out on top beating St George's 4-1.5, but the girls can hold their heads up high after a hugely successful tournament and finishing deserved runners up.

A massive congratulations to the Year 6 girls (and one year 5 pupil) for all their hard work!
