Sixth Formers create their own candles for Young Enterprise competition
A team of four Sixth Form students from St George's College produced and sold their own scented candles in the North Surrey Young Enterprise competition on 11 March, in an attempt to get through to the next round of the competition.
As part of the North Surrey Young Enterprise competition, the student directors had to learn how to run a company and work as a Board to grow their operations and make them a commercial success. The Young Enterprise Company Programme helps students build confidence, boosts their employability skills, and gives them practical insight into running a business.
The students were judged on their trade stands, on interviews with the judges, company reports and presentations.
St George's team, made up of four Lower Sixth students, gave themselves the company name 'Scandles' and they produced their own range of scented candles, selling them at various school events, trade fairs in Surrey and through their company website.
Once all the teams had been judged, the results were announced and although St George's did not progress through to the next round of the competition, they performed admirably on the day, selling well and giving a good representation of themselves.
If you would like to support the St George's Young Enterprise team, their candles can be purchased from the School Shop.
