Pupil's Weybridge in Bloom winning design unveiled

Year 2 pupil Aryan Patel, winner of Weybridge in Bloom’s Design a Flowerbed competition, finally saw his winning design brought to life when the actual flowerbed was officially unveiled this week.

Aryan’s design depicting a St George’s rowing boat on the Thames was declared the winner back in March and so began the intricate process of planting flowers ready to bloom together. Then, just at the right moment on 26 June, it was unveiled to the public by Honourable Mayor Mary Sheldon.

Aryan is a member of the Junior School’s Eco Committee and it was through this group that his design was entered in the competition. In a letter to teacher Antony Shawyer, who oversees the Committee, he declared himself “really happy and proud”. What a fabulous example of just how important our extracurricular clubs are in uncovering and mentoring talent!

To see the flowerbed, just head to Churchfields Recreation Ground in Weybridge.
