Engineers and Debaters celebrated as Georgians of the week

There was a lot of reason to celebrate this weeks Georgians of the week (1 Feb), with both the Debating teams and Land Rover 4x4 teams enjoying success over the past month.

First up, the Debating teams. St Georges has had representatives from a range of different year groups competing in 3 debating competitions in January, with all those competing showcasing zeal in the regional stages. Some of the teams even finished as runners up in the Debating Matters Championship in Southampton - a brilliant achievement!

Secondly, there were two teams representing the College in the Land Rover 4x4 Schools UK Regional Finals and St George's is delighted to announce that both teams won best engineered car in class, overall winner in class, Best Track Performance Development Class and a number of other awards. Former teacher at the College, Ivor Facey, who sadly passed away in 2018, used to take charge of St George's involvement in the competition and he would've been very proud of the students' work and success.
