'Dragonsong' at St George's Hanover Square

After its sensational premiere at the college in December, 'Dragonsong' had its London premiere at St George's Hanover Square last weekend.

The St George's College Chamber Choir came together with the Choral Society and an orchestra of professional musicians (led by OG Sultan Kara) to bring the piece to life. Retelling the story of St George and the Dragon, the performance involved Choir Church children from St Paul's Whitechapel and St George's in the East, who sang alongside the School choirs. The School hymn, cleverly used throughout the piece, encouraged audience participation and created an exciting finale. Rapturous applause filled the church as the end of the two-year adventure of Dragonsong came to a close.

We must say thank you to Mr Quesnel, Director of Music, for his hard work and dedication in not only writing the music for Dragonsong, but also arranging two fantastic performances. Thanks also to Joanna Cadman, Chairman of The Royal Society of Saint George, for her support in sharing the story of St George.
