St George's Weybridge Parents' Association
The St George’s Weybridge Parents’ Association was established in 1957 and was originally known as St George’s College Parents’ Society. It has changed through the years, not only in name, but has evolved to better reflect the inclusion of all parents with children attending St George's Weybridge.
The objective of the Association is to advance the education and pastoral care of students enrolled in the School by:
- developing effective relationships between the staff, parents, Josephite Community, and others associated with the School
- engaging in fundraising activities in order to provide the School with those added extra’s in equipment and facilities which support the School, advance the education of the students, and improve their environment
Today the Association, to which all parents automatically belong, continues to thrive with an active committee that represents parents from across all School years. The annual family subscription of just £5, funds administrative costs, which enables the association to run smoothly. This is added to your Christmas term fee invoice.
The Association holds many different events throughout the year such as the Christmas Market, Quiz Night, Summer Fete and Summer Ball. We also run the Second Hand Uniform Shop located at the College, concession stands at various sporting events, coffee mornings and parent social evenings. In addition to having fun, funds raised by the Parents’ Association are spent on items that enhance the educational experience for our children both in and out of the classroom.
All projects are proposed by either staff, parents or pupils and put to a committee vote before funds are dispersed. Past projects have included wheel chairs to support the parasport program at the College, pirate themed dress up costumes and Legos to the reception classrooms, new taxidermy animals for the biology classrooms at the College, generic costumes for the Junior School drama department, wooden planters and vegetable trugs for the gardening club at the College, startup vegetable plots at the Junior School and an audiovisual computer for the College Drama department.
As well as attending these events, you may also want to volunteer to help at one or even become a committee member. If you are interested in getting involved, please send an email to: PASGW@stgeorgesweybridge.com
