Gold for Students at St George’s

The Olympics may be over but academic gold has been awarded to the students at St George’s College who have excelled this year achieving 52% A* - A grades at A level (with 65 A* grades and 122 A grades).  In total, seven students have gained places at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge universities and two at Yale, whilst six students will be rising to the challenge of Medicine. The arts are also enjoying a high level of success with Emilia Jewitt winning a place at the renowned Trinity College of Music, Samantha Khoury and Elinor Harston at St Martin’s College of Art and Jemma Burgess at the Academy of Live and Recording Arts in London.

Denis Aven, Victoria Eito, Conrad Lippold and Cameron Henderson-Begg achieved outstanding results of five A Levels, all at A* or A grades. Denis is taking up his place at Yale University (as is his sister Daria), Victoria is reading History at the London School of Economics, Conrad Medicine at Cambridge and Cameron Henderson-Begg Chinese Studies at Oxford. In addition, seven other students also gained places on the podium of academic success, brandishing four A levels at A* or A grade: James Clark (Engineering at Oxford), and Christian McCaffery (Physics at Oxford), Heidi Perrin (Geography at Cambridge), Clara Seipt (Medicine at St Bart’s), Claudia Lussana (History at Warwick), Charlotte Dunne (Combined Honours in Art at Durham) and Alice Trew (who has taken a gap year).

But these are not the only students to excel, Ben Brebner (Engineering at Cambridge) and Alexander Christie (Medicine at Bristol) both achieved 3 A* grades. In total, nineteen students gained four or five A levels with thirty three students achieving three A grades or above.

Anthony Watson has been offered a place at Royal Holloway but has decided to pursue a career in rugby with the London Irish.

The College has also announced its excellent AS level results which bode well for next year. Sixteen students were outstanding as they achieved 4 A grades, whilst three students: Krishan Bhalla, Nicholas Bennett and Michael Osborne gained an A* in Maths A2 Level a year early, so they certainly have bright futures ahead!

Headmaster, Joe Peake, was delighted by the results and the College’s performance, “The results of the boys and girls at St George’s have clearly shown the enormous achievements which can be obtained in working together in an academic co-educational environment.”

Mandy Smith, Head of Sixth Form at St George’s College, said: “We are extremely proud of our students who have worked with determination, commitment and enthusiasm to achieve such brilliant results. They deserve success and we wish them very happy and rewarding futures as they begin the next phase of their lives.
