The sun shines as Year 6 enjoy Little Canada activity week

From Monday 12 - Friday 16 June, Year 6 pupils at St George's Junior School enjoyed a wonderful activity week in the Isle of Wight sunshine at Little Canada.

Head of Year 6, Mrs Moran, has provided a review of the fantastic trip.

"We couldn’t have asked for better weather; pupils participated in a wide range of activities designed to challenge them physically, to encourage the development of their social skills and to develop their self-confidence. With the support of the Little Canada team and the PGL staff, they enjoyed taking part in canoeing; dragon-boating; climbing; trapeze; cat walk; giant swing; aeroball and several team building and sporting activities. Many of the pupils exceeded their own expectations.

This year, the courage, determination and positive attitude of the pupils was commented upon by the PGL staff, as was the wonderful support that they gave each other throughout the week. It was a maturing experience to be away from home and to have to take responsibility for preparing themselves for the daily activities. Pupils learnt to work as a team, to cooperate in group activities and problem solving, to keep their cabins tidy and to look after their own possessions. It was certainly good preparation for life at secondary school!

Congratulations to all Year 6 pupils for making this such a successful and enjoyable experience and my sincerest thanks to the Year 6 team for their participation in the activities and their encouragement and support of the pupils."
