Bomber Command in World War II

Boys and girls in Year 6 at St George's Junior School have recently had a fascinating talk by Naomi Neathey about the role of Bomber Command in World War II. 

The pupils found out about 617 Squadron and how they used the famous bouncing bomb to attack the industrial region of Germany. They learnt about the inventor and aircraft designer Barnes Wallis who was based at Vickers Aircraft Factory in Weybridge. The pupils also had the opportunity to handle plane parts and a range of visual and written sources.

This is the fifth year this talk has been delivered to Year 6 and each year there is new evidence that has been uncovered about the role of Bomber Command in the war.
